Pastor, Head of Staff
Rev. Dr. Allan R. Drake, Pastor
Pastor Allan is the first elected and installed pastor of the Living Word of Plum congregation! In June 2018 the leadership team voted unanimously for Pastor Allan to lead us. Pastor Allan has nearly 30 years of experience as a Presbyterian Pastor. He brings a wealth of knowledge about the Word of God, a great leadership presence, and his sermons are always challenging and practical. Pastor Allan has been married to Jennifer for 31 years, and they have 3 children, Allyson and Andrew-22 year old twins, and Aaron-age 14! Pastor Allan loves contemporary music as well as traditional hymns! Amazing Grace, In the Garden, and the Old Rugged Cross as well as Our God is Greater, 10,000 Reasons, and Thank You Lord are just a few songs that our Pastor really loves! Pastor Allan loves to sing and play his acoustic guitar in worship and other settings! Our Pastor is also a pet lover! They have 3 cats, Oliver, Jerry, and Dolly as well as 2 dogs, a beagle named Sugar, and a Chihuahua named Suzie! Pastor Allan loves to vacation in Melbourne Florida near the beach as well as ride his motorcycle! Pastor Allan found the Lord in his life in the early 90's just before graduating with a BA Degree in Communications from Slippery Rock University. Shortly after discovering the Love of Jesus, He attended Seminary at Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge Pa where he received his MDIV degree. In 2016 our Pastor attained his Doctorate Degree in Pastoral Care and Leadership at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Pastor Allan also works as a Hospice Chaplain at Caring Hospice Services in Monroeville. Pastor Allan has indicated that being a chaplain is an enjoyable "book end" to ministry. Our pastor had a vision a decade ago of "starting his own church." Little did he realize that one day the Lord would lead him to participate with a great group of God Loving Christians who desired to build a new church for the love of Christ! The journey continues!

Music Director, Treasurer
Mrs. Gloria Mayo
It has been a source of comfort and peace to have invited Jesus into my life around age 5. I’ve had a Rock to cling to during the turbulent teens, the “decision-making” twenties, and into the child-rearing (and now grandchildren-enjoying) years of life.
Born in Columbus, Ohio but raised mostly in St. Paul, Minnesota, I had 14 years of private piano instruction, with music theory and technique testing through the Minnesota Music Teachers Association. My earliest memory of being an accompanist goes back to fifth grade when I accompanied my elementary school choir for a Christmas concert. Never a fan of playing in front of people, God has definitely shown me that “where I’m weak, He is strong.”
Earning a B.A. in Business Administration at the University of Northwestern (Roseville, MN), I also took two years of music theory “just for fun.” That is something I never regretted! I also met my husband, Tim, at Northwestern and we married in January of 1984. We lived in Wisconsin (Go Packers!) until 1990 when Tim took a job with Westinghouse and we moved to Plum.
We have five grown children, all of whom played a musical instrument in school and church. Now we are watching as our grandchildren show interest in singing and playing various instruments.
I was always involved musically at whatever church I attended, the most recent being music director at the Presbyterian Church of Plum Creek for 6 years before coming to Living Word in 2018, where I’m also the treasurer. I am also an office manager and payroll/contributions manager for two other non-profits in Monroeville, PA.
My aim as music director is to present music that glorifies God and uplifts His people’s spirits, and to encourage others with musical gifts to “come up front” and offer them as a musical offering to our Creator.
